The GDMB Society of Metallurgists and Miners e.V.  cordially invites you to attend the European Metallurgical Conference 2025 (EMC), which will take place from 22nd to  25th June, 2025 in Hamburg, Germany. This Conference is the premier European event dedicated to the field of non-ferrous metals. As the most important conference in its field, EMC 2025 offers a platform for metal producers, plant manufacturers, equipment suppliers, service providers, university researchers, and consultants to exchange knowledge, network, and explore the latest advancements in metallurgy. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexandros Charitos

Head of the Scientific Committee EMC 2025
Prof. Charitos leads the Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy and Purest Materials (INEMET) of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg since late 2020.In the past Prof. Charitos had been an assistant Professor at McGill University in Canada. Prof. had worked in industry (company Metso – before Outotec for 7 years) and holds a PhD from the Univ. of Stuttgart.

Dr. mont. Eva Gerold

Co-Head of the Scientific Committee EMC 2025
Since 2021, Dr. mont. Eva Gerold has been a Senior Scientist at the Chair of Nonferrous Metallurgy at Montanuniversität Leoben, leading the “Battery Recycling” research group. In 2021, she completed her doctoral studies in mining sciences with a dissertation on developing a hydrometallurgical recycling process for lithium-ion batteries. From 2018 to 2021, she was a research associate at the same chair, and she holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Environmental Protection and Process Engineering from Montanuniversität Leoben. Dr. mont. Eva Gerold´s academic journey includes a Bachelor’s degree in the same field and a focus on metallurgical process engineering and plant engineering.

Through our association’s work, we always promote young talent, whether through offering events or through specialist articles in our journals, providing the opportunity to engage directly in discourse and make connections. It is a core concern of ours to promote technical and scientific work and to set an incentive to occupy and shape our important field of focus with high standards.

GDMB will award €500 each for the best student paper in the categories of pyro-, hydro-, and electrometallurgy, as these fields are crucial for process development. This opportunity is open to all students, including doctoral candidates.

For those interested in the student keynote, please submit your applications to emc@gdmb.de. Your application should include a resume, a two-page concept, and a rationale explaining the significance and potential impact of your research.
