PROJECT ENGINEER TECHNOLOGY (M/F/D)

Responsibilities:

• Process development for the treatment of non-ferrous (NF) metal-bearing secondary raw materials (design and mass balancing)
• Planning, conducting, and evaluating trials at laboratory, pilot, and production scale, through to the implementation of newly developed recycling processes into regular production
• Technical planning and obtaining quotations for the selection of machinery and equipment for investment projects
• Preparing processing guidelines and plant documentation
• Supporting the preparation of permit applications
• Assisting with the planning and installation of plants and machinery

Requirements:

• Completed degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Non-Ferrous Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in mineral/materials processing technology, or a comparable qualification
• Knowledge and experience in waste and/or scrap processing desirable
• Knowledge of recycling technology as well as hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes
• Broad technical and scientific expertise
• High degree of flexibility in handling changing and frequently new tasks
• Good communication and teamwork skills, resilience, and reliability

This position is based in Buchholz, Germany.

Our site in Buchholz Westerwald (near Bonn) was founded in 1904. Since then, we have been recycling car batteries with the goal of recovering lead for the production of new batteries.

To strengthen our team of approximately 130 employees, we are looking for a Manager Occupational Health and Safety / Occupational Health and Safety Specialist (m/f/d) to join us at the earliest possible date.

What to Expect

• Promoting a proactive safety culture by ensuring compliance with legal requirements in the field of occupational health and safety
• Analyzing accidents, near misses, and health hazards, preparing related reports and notifications, and developing proposals while supporting the implementation of corrective actions
• Inspecting and approving work areas, machinery, activities, and hazardous substances
• Influencing supervisors and employees to ensure the proper implementation of the blood lead program, and contributing to its continuous updating in line with industry standards and best practices
• Conducting safety walks, safety dialogues, STOP observations, and near-miss management
• Independently creating, maintaining, and further developing risk assessments, PHILs/FMEAs, and safety-related evaluations of equipment and processes
• Conducting occupational safety-related risk assessments and audits involving employees, workplaces, and technical equipment
• Coordinating and collaborating with service providers regarding the provision and cleaning of work clothing and personal protective equipment for all employees
• Collaborating with the company physician and the employers’ liability insurance association (Berufsgenossenschaft), including organizing the occupational health examinations required for employees at the plant
• Applying, maintaining, and expanding the company-wide reporting system
• Continuously improving the occupational health and safety management system
• Preparing and conducting audits in accordance with DIN ISO 45001
• Conducting HS-related training sessions and briefings

What You Bring

• Qualification as an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit)
• Completed technical degree or comparable technical training
• Relevant professional experience in occupational health and safety within an industrial environment, ideally in the chemical, metal, or recycling industry
• Sound knowledge of relevant legal regulations
• Ability to raise awareness among and engage employees and managers on occupational safety topics
• Experience working with authorities desirable
• Experience in energy efficiency and environmental projects desirable
• Close interdisciplinary collaboration with production, maintenance, laboratory, and environment/energy (ISO 9001, 14001, and 50001)
• Good English skills required

• Structured yet pragmatic way of working with a strong focus on implementation

Site Manager (m/f/d) for the “Tiefer Stollen” Visitor Mine

The “Tiefer Stollen” in Aalen-Wasseralfingen is a tourist flagship of our city and the largest visitor mine in Baden-Württemberg. During the mining season from April to October, more than 45,000 visitors gain fascinating insights into ore mining at the Braunenberg and the working life of miners. The therapeutic gallery (Heilstollen) is used for the treatment of respiratory conditions as well as for a soothing retreat for body and mind.

We are looking for a Site Manager (m/f/d) for the “Tiefer Stollen” Visitor Mine, starting as soon as possible.

This is a permanent, full-time position. Working hours are set according to a duty roster. During the season, these are based on the opening and visiting hours. Classification is in pay grade 12 TVöD, subject to meeting the personal qualification requirements.

Your Responsibilities:

• Supervising and ensuring the mining-technical safety of operations
• Planning and preparing technical work
• Staff management and budget responsibility
• Communication with authorities, associations, and service providers
• Planning seasonal visitor operations, training tour guide staff, and organizing special events
• Strategic and organizational development of the site

Your Profile:

• A completed degree in Mining Engineering, Geology/Mineral Deposit Science, a qualification as a Mine Surveyor (m/f/d), training as a Mining Technologist (m/f/d), training and qualification as a Mine Foreman/Deputy (m/f/d), or a comparable degree or training suitable for a site management role
• Confident manner, sense of responsibility, and assertiveness
• A high degree of flexibility and resilience
• Independent and responsible way of working
• Passion for the visitor mine and willingness to pitch in hands-on when needed
• Willingness to work weekends and public holidays
• Experience in visitor management and event organization is an advantage
