The Processing and Environmental Technology Specialist Committee provides a platform for professional colleagues from the industry, research institutions and universities to exchange the latest scientific findings on the processing of primary raw materials (e.g. ores, salts, coals, solid and loose rock) and secondary raw materials (e.g. scrap metal, waste glass, domestic and commercial refuse, slag and building materials). Problems from a wide range of processing technology are dealt with, such as

• coarse, intermediate, fine and ultra-fine grinding,
• separation of material systems by classifying and sorting,
• agglomeration and mixing as well as
• sampling, sample division and quality assurance.

In the field of environmental technology, the prevention of air and water pollution, soil remediation and the disposal of residual material are of special importance.

In the context of the annual, two-day specialist committee meeting, the participating guests and members of the specialist committee are offered a lecture programme on a specific topic from the fields of processing and environmental technology, which is complemented by excursions, visits and presentations of experiments.
